A federal proposal may alter protections for certain forest areas. The US Forest Service has filed a proposal to change existing rules. Public comment is being sought through September 21.

The proposal affects roadless forest areas, including some in Texas. A specific forest has four areas that could be impacted: Big Creek, Big Woods, Little Lake Creek, and Winters Bayou. Further information is available from the relevant federal agency.
