A strong cold front has swept through SE Texas, bringing blustery conditions and much cooler temperatures. Another front arrives Tuesday, followed by an arctic blast that could lead to a hard freeze by Thursday morning.
A powerful cold front passed across Southeast Texas on Sunday night, bringing gusty winds and temperatures significantly lower than normal. On Monday morning, temperatures will be in the 30s and 40s. The daytime highs should reach the 60s, and there should be no clouds in the sky.
More attention is also being paid to a second cold front that is expected to arrive on Tuesday evening. It will bring temperatures up to the upper 60s and then provide a minor possibility of heavy rain and violent storms, which is one in five.
Immediately following the clearing of the front, an arctic air mass will move in, bringing with it the coldest temperatures of the season. By Thursday morning, low temperatures will dip into the 20s, and wind chills will be in the teens; therefore, it is important to take precautions to avoid freezing.
As the region prepares for the cold freeze, people are being encouraged to preserve the four Ps: people, pets, plants, and pipes.
