Blue Bell has issued a recall for Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream due to mislabeling, where cartons were incorrectly identified as Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, leaving out important nut allergen information. No health issues have been reported.
Blue Bell Creameries has announced a voluntary recall of a limited quantity of Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream due to a packaging error that led to the product being mistakenly placed in Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough cartons.
A significant error took place at Blue Bell’s Brenham, Texas, facility, resulting in potential allergens from Moo-llennium Crunch — such as almonds, walnuts, and pecans — being omitted from the incorrectly labeled cartons. According to Blue Bell, those with nut allergies may experience severe or potentially fatal reactions if they ingest the product.
A Blue Bell employee, while restocking at a retailer, identified an error involving two half-gallon cartons that had mismatched packaging, according to the company's statement. There have been no reports of illnesses or adverse reactions, and no further packaging errors have been discovered so far.
The product in question is identifiable as Moo-llennium Crunch ice cream, which comes in a half-gallon carton featuring Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and is topped with a Moo-llennium Crunch lid. The carton lid features the code 061027524 prominently displayed at the top.
The impacted half-gallons were sent to retail locations across Alabama, Arkansas, the Florida Panhandle, northwest Georgia, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Texas, and southwest Virginia.
Blue Bell has advised customers who bought the incorrectly labeled cartons to take them back to the store for a complete refund.
For further details, individuals may reach out to Blue Bell via phone at 979-836-7977 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. CST, Monday through Friday, or by email at consumerrelations@bluebell.com.
The organization announced that this voluntary recall was executed in collaboration with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
Blue Bell highlighted that the recall is confined to the specific half-gallon cartons in question and does not affect any of its other offerings.
