Brazil's men's national soccer team received a warm welcome from fans after arriving in Houston over the weekend ahead of its highly anticipated FIFA World Cup Round of 32 match against Japan.
Supporters gathered outside the Hyatt Regency Houston/Galleria on Saturday to greet the team as players signed autographs, posed for photos, and greeted fans waving Brazilian flags and wearing the team's iconic yellow jerseys. Children and families lined the entrance, cheering as players stepped off the buses before checking into the hotel.
Brazil will face Japan on Monday afternoon at Houston Stadium, formerly known locally as NRG Stadium, in what is expected to be one of the most heavily attended knockout matches of the tournament.
The five-time World Cup champions enter the match after finishing atop Group C with a 2-0-1 record. Brazil advanced with one of the group's best goal differentials after matches in East Rutherford, New Jersey; Philadelphia; and Miami.
Japan secured second place in Group F after defeating Tunisia and earning draws against the Netherlands and Sweden to reach the knockout stage.
