A student at Grand Oaks High School in the north Houston area was hospitalized on Tuesday morning following an incident in which they sustained three shallow stab wounds during a fight on campus, according to confirmation from district officials.
An altercation took place at approximately 9 a.m., as reported in a communication sent to parents. Emergency medical personnel arrived at the school to assist the injured student, then transported him to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. Authorities have confirmed that the student is currently receiving medical attention.
The individual believed to be involved in the incident was swiftly recognized and apprehended by authorities. The Conroe Independent School District Police Department is currently investigating the incident with support from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
District officials have confirmed that there is currently no threat to the safety of students or staff.
Principal Fred Black emphasized that ensuring campus safety remains a primary focus.
In a recent statement, Black emphasized that the safety and well-being of students and staff remain the foremost priority. “Incidents of this nature are treated with utmost seriousness, and suitable disciplinary measures will be implemented in line with the Student Code of Conduct.”
Conroe ISD has released a statement praising the swift response of law enforcement officials.
The district expressed gratitude for the prompt and coordinated efforts of law enforcement partners, noting that their actions were instrumental in ensuring the situation was contained swiftly and safely.
Officials have confirmed that the parents of both students involved have been notified.
Officials have yet to disclose the identities or ages of the students involved. Authorities are actively examining the events that culminated in the altercation.
