Holiday travelers at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) will notice smoother traffic flow with the debut of a new International Arrivals Curb on Saturday, Dec. 14, designed to alleviate congestion and enhance the travel experience.
As the holiday travel season begins, the Houston Airport System plans to install a big enhancement at Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH): the International Arrivals Curb. This new pick-up facility, which will open on December 14, promises to relieve road congestion and streamline airport exits for passengers.
The freshly erected curb contains eight designated pick-up lanes, six of which will be operational during the peak December travel season. This project intends to restore the airport exit to its previous four-lane design, which will significantly reduce traffic congestion caused by ongoing development.
To make way for the new configuration, the temporary Terminal E pick-up zone on South Terminal Road will close on the same day. The Houston Airport System expects that the new structure will greatly cut delays and improve the flow of vehicles exiting the airport.
Construction at IAH began in 2022, causing ongoing traffic issues for passengers. With the inauguration of the International Arrivals Curb, travelers may expect a substantial improvement, indicating success in the airport's overall modernization efforts.
As work continues through 2025, the Houston Airport System remains committed to improving the travel experience at IAH, assuring smoother operations for future holiday seasons and beyond.
