Astros pitcher Lance McCullers Jr. says he and his family have been targeted with death threats following his difficult return to the mound against Cincinnati. The team and MLB are now involved in the investigation.
Lance McCullers Jr., a right-hander for the Houston Astros, said that he and his family have been getting death threats on social media after his bad game against the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday, in which he gave up seven runs in a terrible first inning, with 10 runs scored.
Astros officials said they have informed the Houston Police Department and Major League Baseball security about the threats so they can be investigated.
McCullers, 30, said that even though fans have been mean to him, it was too much this time.
"I understand people are very passionate and love the Astros, but threatening to find my kids and murder them is a little bit tough to deal with," he said. "As a father… There should be some type of decency."
McCullers has two little girls with his wife, Kara. He said that threats had happened before, but this time they were horrible and included disturbing words about attacking his children.
