‘King of the Hill’ actor Jonathan Joss was fatally shot outside his former San Antonio home. Police have charged a suspect as investigations continue.

Jonathan Joss was shot and killed outside of his old home in San Antonio, Texas, on Sunday evening. He was 59 years old and was known for playing John Redcorn on the animated series King of the Hill. Joss was loved for his portrayal as Chief Ken Hotate on Parks and Recreation, and he was known for bringing Native and Indigenous characters to life.
When the San Antonio Police Department got to 200 Dorsey Drive just after 7 p.m., they found Joss badly hurt near the road, according to the department. Even though people tried to save his life, he was declared dead at the scene. Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, 56, has been arrested and charged with murder. The probe is still going on.
The horrible killing happened just a few months after Joss lost another essential thing: his childhood home burned down in January 2025, killing three of his dogs. The house was critical to him because it was built by his father in 1957.
Tristan Kern de Gonzales, Joss's husband, wrote about the killing on Facebook on Monday. He called it a hate-filled attack. The couple was upset when they went back to the burned-out house to check the mail and found the body of one of their dogs. De Gonzales said a guy came up to them, used homophobic slurs, and then shot them. He said Joss did something brave to protect his husband and save his life.
From Our Lady of the Lake University, Joss got her BA in theater arts. She was born and raised in San Antonio. He had parts in Walker, Texas Ranger, Ray Donovan, Friday Night Lights, Red Dead Redemption, and Wasteland 3 as well as voice work in those shows.
People remember Joss as an artist, activist, and innovator whose influence goes far beyond the screen.
