There's a 70% chance that scattered showers and storms will happen in Houston this Saturday, and they could get terrible. The area has a Level 2 (slight risk) out of 5 from the Storm Prediction Center for severe weather, which means there is a chance of damaging winds, heavy rain, and even a few storms.
As a cold front comes into Southeast Texas around 9 a.m., rain is likely to start. Storm activity will pick up in the late morning and early afternoon. Even though the worst weather is expected to be northeast of Houston, the city could still be hit by bad weather.
Watch out for stormy weather changes from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. By evening, the storms should be over because the front is passing the area.
Sunday will have cooler, drier air. It's going to get cooler, with lows in the 40s highs in the 60s and partly cloudy skies. This will make for a nice New Year's Eve party.
People should keep an eye on the weather reports and get ready for conditions to change quickly.
