Dallas Police Officer Karissa David, who was shot in the face and abdomen during a South Oak Cliff incident on August 29, has been released from the hospital. Now blind in both eyes, David sustained severe injuries while responding to the fatal shooting of fellow officer Darron Burks.

According to her family's crowdfunding page, the Dallas police officer who was wounded in the face and stomach in South Oak Cliff on August 29 is now discharged from the hospital.
Two of the officers who responded to the shooting in the 900 block of East Ledbetter Drive were Sr. Cpl. Karissa David and Sr. Cpl. Jamie Farmer. They, too, were struck by gunfire from the suspect, who was subsequently slain by police after fleeing the scene at a high speed.
Darron Burks, a Dallas police officer, was fatally shot while seated in his patrol vehicle at the For Oak Cliff community center. This incident prompted the police to respond.
Farmer sustained a leg injury and was subsequently discharged from the hospital. David sustained gunshot wounds to the forehead and abdomen. David was married six weeks before the shooting and is presently blind, according to a news release from the ATO.
Officer David was shot multiple times in the face and abdomen six weeks after marrying the love of her life, and she is presently blind in both eyes, according to a social media post by Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia (September 19). Officer David has undergone numerous surgeries to address the injuries sustained in her abdomen and her eyes, as well as the harm caused by the gunshot.
